WageR's Latest News.

[Page 1] - [Page 2]

Saturday 16th June 2007 - WageR's new Bass player Mick Duncombe plays his Debut gig at the Boring Old Fartz MCC 6th Whistle In The Wind Rally. WageR would like to congratulate Mick on learning the set so quickly and performing brilliantly and not getting stuck in the mud. WageR would also like to thank everyone for helping get the Mighty WageR-Mobile out of the mud after Alan decided to park as close to the Marquee as insanely possible.

Saturday 19th May 2007 - The Sound of Wedding Bells are in the air as WageR's Nic Smith tied the knot with his partner Sonia. The only similarity to their Holywood counterparts (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) is that instead of demolishing Houses, Supermarkets and each other. They will be demolishing the contents of the bar at their local Weatherspoons. We would all like to wish the happy couple many years of happiness together.

Thursday 17th May 2007 - Due to unforeseen circumstances Oliver has resigned from WageR. WageR would like to thank Oliver for helping the lads out over the past 2 months while they could find a new Bass Player. Mick Duncombe Joins WageR as the bands new Bass Player. Over the coming weeks Mick will be learning the set to get ready for his debut outing at the Boring Old Fartz MCC Rally on Saturday 16th June.

Wednesday 4th October 2006 - WageRpromotions.co.uk gets a brand new look. After nearly two years of promoting all things WageR, the lads decided it was time for a major overhaul on the look and image of their website.

Wednesday 21st June 2006 - Oliver Dudley (Bass Guitar/ Backing Vocals) Auditioned for WageR and became the bands new Bass Player. Oliver is a brilliant musician with finesse, flair and raw power adding WageR's already impressive sound. Oliver's debut gig was at the Netherton Park Festival in July. If you would like to find out a little more about Oliver & Paul check out WageR' Biographies in the WageR History.

Thursday 9th June 2006 - Mike performs his final gig with WageR at The Sandyback, Tamworth. We wish Mike all the very best for the future.

Fri & Saturday 24th & 25th February 2006 - After departing company from WageR in October 2005 Mike Tromans Stepped in to take care of the Bass Department for these 2 gigs. Friday's Gig at the Adam & Eve was a very enthusiastic packed house and one of the best gigs WageR have performed thus far. Saturday saw WageR Playing at the Boot Inn, Lichfield Street, Raising funds for Leukaemia Research Over the night WageR and the Boot managed to raise £240 for the Charity. (more news to follow on this item).

Mike happily agreed and is also going to help WageR commit to their future gigs until a replacement Bass Player is in place.

Wednesday 22nd February 2006 - Daz Whitfield leaves WageR, Due to family commitments he is no longer able to devote his time and efforts to the band, we wish Daz and his family well for the future.

Sunday 20th November - WageR were due to play Busby's in West Bromwich but at the last minute the gig was cancelled due to the venue mixing their dates up. So instead of gigging the lads headed into Kaje Audio and started work recording their new 7 track Demo. The Demo will feature 4 Original tracks (House That Jack Built, If I, Give It Back & Turn It Around) and 4 Cover tracks (Queen's One Vision, Feeder's Buck Rogers & Roger Whitaker's Dirty Old Town :) only kidding U2's Beautiful Day). More news will follow as the recording continues.

Tuesday 8th November - WageR review by Twang from RPM Magazine issue 93 (November). RPM is a free monthly magazine available from different venues across the West Midlands.

The Grape Reviews WageR @ the Adam and Eve 14-10-05

There were plenty of people at the Adam and Eve for this gig, WageR are a 5 piece band that play a set consisting of their own material mixed with some cover versions. The first song of which was, ‘Learn To Fly’ by the Foo Fighters, this was followed by one of their own songs, ‘House That Jack Built’ which sounded quite good. You don’t get rock covers bands doing Stranglers songs very often, but this lot did an excellent rocked up version of ‘Hanging Around’ with vocalist Wayne Hughes on fine form, this was followed by Feeder's ‘Buck Rogers’ also played brilliantly, and so it continued for the rest of the gig, with the band belting out a good selection of classics.

Some that really stood out were ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ from Greenday which featured some fine Lesley speaker sounding guitar from Alan Bell, ‘Ever Fallen in Love’ was also given a good rocked up treatment, there was also some very good bass playing from Daz Whitfield on ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ getting towards the end of there 20 or so song set they played ‘If I’ another of their own compositions which had some good drumming from Emerson Todd, final song of the night was a stormin version of 'Design For Life' by the Manics with some nice playing from Nic Smith on keyboards, and that was it, a fine ending to an excellent night, going down very well with the crowd.

Id never seen this band before, and that was the only slight problem, they played five of their own songs in the set, but these songs didn't have the impact that the cover versions had, due to the fact that id never heard them before, so with this in mind a visit to the bands very good website at www.wagerpromotions.co.uk is well worth a it as they have loads of info about the band and upcoming gigs, and also some audio clips. You can also get a couple of their demo cd’s if there playing anywhere in your area go see em, you wont be disappointed.

----------------------------

Friday 7th October - Daz's Debut gig with WageR at the Trent Bridge Inn. After a gruelling 5 days of learning the set, it was time for Daz to take to the stage. The evening went extremely well and Daz fitted in as if he had been playing with WageR from the creation of the band. WageR played valiantly and put on one hell of a show. WageR took to the stage at 9:45 and did 2 flawless 45 minute sets, which was very well received. After the gig, WageR was asked back to play at the Trent Bridge Inn, the details of which will be announced shortly in the gigs & events section of the site.

Wednesday 6th October 2005 - WageR would like to announce and introduce WageR's new Bass Player Daz Whitfield.

Sunday 2nd October 2005 - Due to the nature and distances of some of the forthcoming gigs it would have been extremely difficult for Mike to balance his already busy career with his position in WageR. It is therefore with regret that we part company with Mike. Mike is an exceptional Bassist and one of the most likeable people you are ever to meet. We wish him well and all the very best for the future. Details of WageR's new bass player will be announced over the next few days.

Monday 12th September 2005 - WageR Support Waysted at JB's, Dudley. At last WageR have played JB's, Woo Hoo!!! For as long as I can remember I've always wanted to play there. Ok the turn out wasn't as great as WageR, JB's or Waysted would have liked but we certainly enjoyed it. It was great to meet Waysted and be on the same bill, as those guys certainly have done the rounds (although they could have saved us some curry :). Finn is one hell of a top bloke and hopefully we look forward to perhaps sharing a stage with Waysted at some point in the future.

Tuesday 31st May 2005 - WageR have been back in the studio and work has begun on the bands forthcoming album titled "Songs For Stadia". We have included a clip of "Give It Back" one of the songs to feature on the album in our Media section of the site.

Saturday 30th April 2005 - WageR perform at The Bagot Arms with their new Drummer Emerson Todd. Over the past three weeks WageR have been in rehearsals making sure everything would be in place for the 30th.

More news will be updated as it happens.
